Claudia Gardner is an Editor/Writer at Dancehall Mag. She writes extensively on Dancehall and Reggae and has been an unapologetic lover of both genres since her childhood days. She has more than 20 years of journalistic experience, much of which have been spent at The Gleaner.
A former member of the Jamaica Defence Force, she also studied Media and Communication at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at the University of the West Indies (UWI), where she specialized in Print and Online Journalism as well as Social Marketing.
In June 2007 she won the “Caribbean Hotel Association/Caribbean Tourism Organisation/American Express Print Journalism Award for “Excellence in Tourism Reporting”. Claudia is also the founder of Negril Times, a news website dedicated to the resort town of Negril and Miss Jamrock, which focuses on Health and Wellness, Travel and Jamaican Culture.
