The Island Music Conference 2026 Songwriters Workshop is designed to equip songwriters with practical skills, creative insight, and exposure to today’s music-making
tools and technologies. The workshop provides focused instruction and guidance aimed at developing songwriting techniques, enhancing creativity, and strengthening participants’ ability to write for today’s global music market.
The workshop is directed by Brandon Bakshi , an experienced music industry executive with a strong background in managing relationships with international songwriters, composers, and music publishers. His extensive experience includes overseeing high-profile programs and events such as the BMI London Awards and the BMI at Abbey Road Songwriters Sessions. The Assistant Director is Tasha Thorbourne, BMI Award Winning songwriter, Co creator and Co - Manager of the international sister duo Brick & Lace. Tasha has worked extensively in the Music Industry, working in Music Publishing at Warner Chappell and Broadcast Radio in Toronto, Canada and has relationships across the United States, Canada and Africa.
